Going Beyond

The Impact of Your Support

Your contribution to Surf Life Saving goes beyond the visible patrols—it's a lifeline that reaches further, exhibited by the remarkable efforts of individuals like Patrick Jacob. This off-duty volunteer surf lifesaver recently demonstrated the profound impact of your generosity on the NSW Central Coast.

While working from home, Patrick received an urgent call—a young boy was caught in a rip at North Entrance Beach. The beach was closed for the day, but danger doesn't adhere to schedules. Patrick's commitment to safety prompted him to take immediate action.

With a rescue tube in hand, he raced to the scene. Braving the crashing waves, Patrick reached the struggling boy, his head occasionally surfacing in the tumultuous waters. Amidst the chaos, Patrick managed to secure the rescue tube around the boy's waist—a lifeline in the midst of uncertainty.

But their ordeal was far from over. Both remained at the mercy of powerful waves, the boy's fear adding to the challenge. Patrick's training and courage led him to an important decision—to swim further out into the ocean, away from the breaking waves. Central Coast Council lifeguards soon joined the rescue, bringing a jetski to safely retrieve Patrick and the boy.

The outcome was clear—a life saved; a family spared from grief. Patrick's rescue  is proof that every dollar you give has an impact beyond the immediate coastline. Your support saves lifes, nurtures a culture of vigilance and empowers individuals like Patrick to be heroes in our community.
