2025 – A milestone year for Surf Life Saving

2025 – A milestone year for Surf Life Saving

The iconic red and yellow has represented protection and courage on our coastlines for over a century, and last year marked an incredible milestone in the history of Surf Life Saving, with our membership surpassing 200,000 members across 316 affiliated Surf Life Saving Clubs nationwide. Our members are the heartbeat of our organisation, and reaching this milestone reflects the enduring strength of our movement and the immense footprint Surf Life Saving has across the nation. It is an achievement we are immensely proud of.

A lifesaving commitment to serve their communities

Driven by a shared mission to save lives and serve their communities, almost 50,000 volunteer surf lifesavers dedicated more than 1.4 million hours of their own time to patrol our beaches over the past year. During that time, they saved the lives of 8,207 people, returning them safely to their loved ones, performed over 2 million preventative actions, and administered over 65,000 first aid treatments. Their selfless commitment helps ensure that everyone who enjoys our coastlines has the chance to return home safely. As a valued supporter, you are an important part of this mission, helping make our lifesaving work possible – and we thank you.
